본 연구는 동서양의 만남의 경계에서 출현한 함석헌의 방대한 사유의 바다에서 “생명”의 문제를 어떻게 바라보았는지를 검토하고자 한다. 특히 함석헌의 생명론의 의미를 신학적으로 헤아리는 것을 목표로 하며 함석헌의 “생명론”이 오늘날 어떠한 시사성을 지니고 있는지를 헤아릴 것이다. 이를 위하여 본 연구는 첫째, 그의 핵심 저작인 『뜻으로 본 한국역사』에서 ‘생명’의 지위가 어떻게 조명되는지를 검토한다(II). 둘째, 생명의 근본원리는 고난이라고 고백하는 함석헌의 ‘고난의 생명론’에 관한 내용을 검토한다(III). 셋째, 고난과 생명이 ‘하나님’과 어떻게 변증법적으로 연결되어 있는지를 검토한다(IV). 넷째, 함석헌의 생명론의 신학적 의미를 헤아리기 위하여 함석헌 생명론의 8가지 테제를 검토한다(V). 마지막으로 나가는 말로 본 연구의 결론을 제시한다(VI). 주 제 어 함석헌, 생명론, 고난, 생명의 해석학, 한국 신학, 생명과 역사 논문목차:

Publisher: Korea Association of Christian Studies Abstract: Ham Sok-Hon (1901-1989) was one of the most influential twentieth-century thinkers in the political and social situation in korea. His thought of life is more than just a historical and social theory. Moreover, his concept of life has an important meaning with profound implications for the ecology of life and religion. Ham Sok-Hon’s thought is based on the reconstruction of the integral understanding of our living experience in pain and suffering. In his view, the experience of life is understood as a dynamic and complex essence of a spiritual process in the suffering of world history. It is clear that Ham Sok-Hon’s concept of life has had a major impact on forming a new perspective and reflection on the understanding of life, on all living things and humanity in the 20th century. This article examines the ways in which Ham Sok-Hon understands the phenomenon of life from the viewpoint of the integrated dimension between the inner spirituality and outer history. Especially, I emphasize in this study Ham Sok-Hon’s idea and meaning of life for the development of the understanding of God’s involvement for the higher evolution of our natural, social and spiritual world. The article elaborates on the development and status of the concept of life in Ham Sok-Hon's hermeneutics. It could be significant for theology and religion to grasp his contribution : this creative, historical and spiritual understanding of life.
