본 연구는 민중신학과 체계이론의 간학문적인 대화 가능성을 타진하는 것을 목표로 한다. 민중신학은 고난의 현장에서 독창적으로 구현된 한국적 신학이다. 민중신학과 체계이론의 만남은 두 가지 차원에서 모색될 수 있다. 첫 번째, 두 사유 모두 “현재성”의 문제에 대한 방법론적인 모색을 깊이 하였다는 점이다. 두 번째, 두 사유 모두 “생명”의 문제를 체계의 관점에서 접근하였다는 점이다. 이러한 문제제기 속에서 본 연구는 다음의 네 가지 주제를 검토하였다. 첫째 민중신학과 체계이론이 보편(universality)와 개별(individuality)의 관계를 어떻게 다루었는가. 둘째, 두 이론은 중심(center)과 주변(margin)의 관계를 어떻게 다루었는가. 셋째, 두 이론은 생명의 문제를 사회와 체계의 관점에서 어떻게 다루었는가. 넷째, 두 이론은 고난과 연대성의 문제를 어떻게 다루었는가. 본 연구는 이 두 이론이 체계의 관점에서 생명의 지위를 매우 효과적으로 조명하는 담론임을 주장하였다. 특히 환경과 생명의 함수 속에서 민중의 의미를 새롭게 해석할 수 있는 여지를 민중신학과 체계이론의 대화에서 얻을 수 있다. 생명의 구체적인 현실, 생명의 사회적 연대성의 담론에 대한 신학적 작업이 요청되는 현실에서 민중신학과 체계이론의 대화는 앞으로도 매우 풍요로운 성과를 제공해줄 것임을 본 연구는 주목하였다.

Publisher: Korea Society of Systematic Theology Abstract: This study aims at elaborating the possibilities of interdisciplinary dialogues between Minjung Theology and the System Theory. Minjung Theology rose as a contextual theology amidst the reality of suffering. The encounter of Minjung Theology and System Theory can be explored through two different ways. Firstly, both thoughts are deeply focusing on the present aspect (currency). Secondly, both thoughts approach the concern of “life” from the system-perspective. With these inquiries given, this study has elaborated on the following four aspects. 1) How did both Minjung Theology and System Theory deal with the definition of Universality and Individuality? 2) How did they deal with the issues of Center and Margin? 3) How did they deal with the issue of “life” from the social point of view? 4) How did they interpret the quest of dealing with the issues of suffering and solidarity with it? This study tries to elaborate a discourse on how these two thoughts are casting light on the status of life. The correlation of nature and life especially provides new ways of interpretation on the definition and meaning of Minjung in the contemporary discourse of theology. This study is focusing on the rich outcomes from the dialogue between these two thoughts, that responds to the urgent need for a discourse on solidarity of life on the social level and theological reflection of the same.
