본 연구는 화이트헤드의 객체적 불멸성(objective immortality) 개념에 대한 검토를 목적으로 한다. 화이트헤드는 자신의 불멸론 안에서 주체적 소멸(subjective mortality)과 객체적 불멸(objective immortality)의 개념적 구상을 명료하게 제시하였다. 화이트헤드에 의하면 주체는 매 순간 순간 탄생되고 소멸되나 그 모든 사건은 객체적으로 기여가 되고 사라지지 않는다. 신은 모든 주체의 소멸을 객체적으로 품으며 객체적 불멸성의 근거로서 기능한다. 본 연구는 이러한 객체적 불멸성의 관념의 전제로서 우주의 관계성과 과정성을 주목하였다. 더 나아가서 본 연구는 객체화의 중요한 근거로서의 우주의 연장성과 관찰의 문제, 그리고 형이상학적 개념인 객체적 불멸성이 인간학적-신학적 관점에서 어떠한 정당성과 의미를 지니는지를 검토하였다. 이를 통하여 화이트헤드의 객체적 불멸성 개념의 학제간 대화 가능성, 특히 신학적 함의를 조명하였다. 주제어 소멸, 불멸, 객체적 불멸, 영혼, 죽음, 신학과 과학 논문목차:

December 31. 2014 Publisher: The Whitehead Society of Korea Abstract: This article aims to examine the concept of objective immortality of Alfred N. Whitehead. Whitehead distinctly suggests the subjective mortality and objective immortality by relating them with the conceptualization of objective immortality. By him, the subject is created and perished every moment but all of the occasions are not vanishing, becoming objective. God embraces the perishing of every subjective mortality as objective, functioning as a basis of objective immortality. This study pays attention to the passage of nature of cosmos as a premise of the idea of the objective immortality. Furthermore, it investigates how the observation functions as a significant basis of objectification and how the objective immortality as a metaphysical notion is justified and signified from an anthropological viewpoint. Through it, this research tries to specifically reinterpret the religious-anthropological meaning of Whitehead's concept of objective immortality.
